10 Landing Page Mistakes That Waste Your Google & Facebook Ad Budget
You can have a great ad and still waste money if the page it sends people to doesn't convert. The landing page is where ad spend turns into leads, or disappears. Here are 10 common mistakes and how to fix them.
1. Sending ad traffic to your homepage
Your homepage talks about everything. A landing page should match the ad exactly, with the same offer, the same words and one clear goal.
2. Slow loading on mobile
Most ad clicks come from phones. If the page takes more than a few seconds to load, many visitors leave before it appears, and you've already paid for the click. Keep pages light, compress images and avoid heavy sliders.
3. A headline that doesn't match the ad
If the ad says "2BHK flats from ₹45 lakh in Whitefield", the landing page headline should say that too. A mismatch makes visitors feel they've landed in the wrong place.
4. Too many choices
Menus, links to other pages and multiple offers distract visitors. Remove the navigation and focus on one action.
5. Weak or hidden call to action
"Submit" is not a call to action. Use specific, benefit-driven buttons like "Get the Price List" or "Book a Free Site Visit", and make them visible without scrolling.
6. Long, intimidating forms
Ask only what you need to follow up. Name and phone number is often enough, and you can qualify leads on the call.
7. No trust signals
Add testimonials, client logos, ratings, certifications or project photos near the form. People need reassurance before sharing their details.
8. No WhatsApp option
For Indian audiences, a WhatsApp button can capture leads who don't want to fill a form or call.
9. No conversion tracking
Without tracking, you can't tell which ads and keywords generate leads. Set up Google Ads conversion tracking, Meta Pixel and GA4 events for form submissions and WhatsApp clicks.
10. Never testing anything
Small changes to the headline, offer, form length or button text can change conversion rates a lot. Test one change at a time and keep what works.
A simple high-converting structure
- Headline matching the ad, plus one supporting line
- Call to action button (and WhatsApp)
- 3–5 key benefits
- Proof: testimonials, logos, photos
- Short FAQ answering objections
- Form or call to action again
Fix these mistakes and the same ad budget can bring in noticeably more leads.
