  • Ask right after a success, with 2–3 guiding questions.
  • Specific, named testimonials with photos or logos are far more convincing.
  • Place them near calls to action, get permission, and never fake or alter them.

Testimonials are one of the most persuasive things you can put on a website. Potential customers trust other customers more than they trust you. But generic, anonymous praise doesn't convince anyone. Here's how to collect testimonials that work.

When and how to ask

  • Ask at the high point: right after a successful delivery, launch or result
  • Make it easy: a short WhatsApp or email message with two or three guiding questions
  • Offer to draft it from what they've told you, for their approval

Questions that get specific answers

  1. What problem were you facing before working with us?
  2. What was the experience like?
  3. What changed afterwards?

Specific answers ("enquiries started coming in through WhatsApp within the first week") are far more convincing than "great service!"

What makes a testimonial believable

  • Full name, role and company (with permission)
  • A photo or company logo
  • Specific details about the problem and result
  • A link to the project or case study, where possible

Where to place testimonials

  • Homepage: two or three strong ones near the main call to action
  • Service pages: testimonials about that specific service
  • Near forms and checkout: reassurance right where people decide
  • Case studies: a quote from the client in the story
  • Landing pages: essential proof for ad traffic

Your Google reviews can sit alongside testimonials in these places too; see how to show Google reviews on your website.

Permissions and honesty

  • Get clear permission to publish the name, company, photo and quote
  • Never write fake testimonials or edit quotes to change their meaning
  • Don't mark up testimonials as review ratings in schema unless it follows Google's guidelines
  • For regulated professions (health, legal, finance), check your professional body's rules on testimonials

Beyond written quotes

Adding testimonials is one of the quickest ways to get more enquiries from your website.
