WordPress Changes Not Showing on Your Website? Here's Why and How to Fix It

You updated a price, changed a photo or edited the header, but the live website still shows the old version. It's one of the most frequent support requests I get, and it's almost always caching or one of a few simple causes.

1. Did the change actually save?

• Did you click Update or Publish, not just preview or save a draft?
• In Elementor, the green Update button must be clicked, not just closing the editor
• Check the page's revisions to confirm the change is there

2. Browser cache

Your browser may show a stored copy. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac), a private window, or another device.

3. Caching plugin

If the site uses a caching plugin like LiteSpeed Cache, WP Rocket or W3 Total Cache, clear or purge its cache. Logged-in admins often see fresh pages while visitors see cached ones, which is why you might see the change and customers don't.

4. Server and hosting cache

Many hosts have their own server cache with a "purge" button in the hosting panel or the WordPress admin bar.

5. CDN cache

If you use Cloudflare or another CDN, purge the cache there too, especially for changed images, CSS and JavaScript files; see what is a CDN.

6. Elementor CSS files

Elementor stores styles in generated CSS files. If design changes don't appear, go to Elementor → Tools and use the option to regenerate files and data, then clear all caches.

7. Editing the wrong place

• Headers, footers and blog layouts may come from a template (Elementor Theme Builder or the theme customiser), not the page itself
• The page you edited may be a duplicate or draft, not the one in the menu
• On a staging site, changes don't appear on live until pushed

8. Mobile vs desktop settings

Elementor lets you set different styles or hide elements per device. A change made in desktop view may be overridden by a tablet or mobile setting.

9. Image still old?

If you uploaded a new image with the same file name, caches may keep the old one. Upload with a new file name, or purge caches.

Quick routine after any change

1. Update or Publish
2. Clear plugin cache, then server cache, then CDN cache
3. Check in a private window on your phone
