Key takeaways
  • A clear page of materials accepted, plus a short pickup form and WhatsApp option, drives most household and small business pickups.
  • Show only the registrations and authorisations you actually hold, with your real role in the recycling chain.
  • Corporate clients want a documented process and paperwork, and any data destruction claims must match exactly what you do.

Scrap and recycling businesses often run on phone calls, word of mouth and long-standing relationships with local factories. That still matters, but more households, offices and companies now search online when they want to sell scrap, clear out old computers or find a recycler that can give them proper paperwork. A focused website helps you get those pickups and, just as importantly, shows corporate buyers that you are a legitimate, properly authorised business.

Know who you are talking to

Most recycling businesses serve several very different customers. Plan pages and calls to action for each:

CustomerWhat they want to know
Households and shopsDo you pick up from my area, what do you buy, and how is it weighed and paid?
Offices and IT teamsCan you take old computers safely, and what happens to the data and the paperwork?
Factories and warehousesCan you handle regular volumes, and do you provide weighment slips and invoices?
Brands and producersWhich registrations do you hold, and what documentation can you provide?

A homepage with two clear paths, such as "Sell your scrap" and "Business and bulk disposal", stops each visitor from wading through content meant for someone else.

A clear "what we accept" page

This is often the most useful page on the site. List the materials you take, grouped the way people think about them:

  • Metals: iron and steel, copper, brass, aluminium and mixed metal scrap
  • Paper and plastics: newspapers, cardboard, office paper and the plastic types you handle
  • E-waste: computers, laptops, phones, printers, servers, cables and appliances, only if you are set up to handle them
  • Industrial scrap: machinery, production offcuts and old equipment

Be just as clear about what you don't accept, minimum quantities for free pickup and any items needing special handling, such as batteries. Scrap rates change often, so many businesses show indicative rates with a "last updated" date, or simply ask people to call or WhatsApp for today's rate. Whatever you choose, keep it accurate; see should you show prices on your website?

Pickup booking that works

For household and small business customers, the pickup request is the main conversion. Keep the form short:

  1. Material type and approximate quantity or weight
  2. Address, locality and pin code
  3. Preferred date and time slot
  4. An option to upload photos

A WhatsApp button works especially well here, because people can simply send a photo of their scrap and get a quick answer; see adding WhatsApp to your website. Explain how weighing works (for example on a digital scale in front of the customer) and how you pay, whether by UPI, bank transfer or cash. Transparency on weighing and payment removes the biggest worry people have about selling scrap.

State the authorisations you actually hold

For e-waste and industrial customers, your registrations matter as much as your rates. E-waste, batteries, plastics and hazardous waste each have their own rules in India, and the registration or authorisation you need depends on your role, such as collector, dismantler, refurbisher or recycler, and on the current rules. Check the details with the pollution control board or a compliance consultant.

  • Show each registration or authorisation you hold, with the issuing authority, number and validity, and keep it updated
  • Describe your role accurately; if you collect and hand material to a registered recycler, say so rather than calling yourself a recycler
  • Don't use government or pollution control board logos, and avoid phrases like "government approved" unless they are literally true
  • Mention EPR documentation support only if you are registered for it and genuinely provide it

Pages for corporate and bulk clients

Corporate contracts are where steady volume comes from, and those buyers want to see a process rather than a price list. Useful pages include IT asset disposal for offices, scrap contracts for factories, and clearance of old stock or equipment. On each, explain the steps from enquiry to final paperwork, the documents you provide (such as weighment slips, invoices with GST and recycling or disposal certificates where applicable), and the volumes and locations you can handle.

Add a request-for-quote form with fields for company name, GSTIN, material types, estimated quantities, frequency and site location, plus an upload option for an asset list. A downloadable company profile helps procurement teams share your details internally. Many of the ideas in getting more B2B enquiries from your website apply here too.

Data destruction: only claim what is true

Offices disposing of laptops, phones and servers worry about data. If you offer data destruction, describe exactly what you do: software wiping, physical shredding or crushing of drives, on-site or at your facility, and what record the client receives, such as a certificate listing serial numbers. Explain how devices are tracked and transported between collection and destruction.

If you don't offer it, say so plainly and suggest clients wipe or remove drives before handover. Don't mention a named standard or certification unless your process genuinely follows it and you can show how. A false data security claim can cost you far more than a lost contract.

Trust, local SEO and speed

  • Show real photos of your yard or facility, weighing scales, vehicles and team
  • Target searches like "scrap dealer in {city}", "kabadiwala near me", "e-waste recycling {city}" and "sell old AC scrap {area}"
  • Keep your Google Business Profile complete, with your pickup areas, hours and genuine reviews
  • Consider Hindi or regional language pages if many customers search that way; see multilingual WordPress websites
  • Keep pages light so they load quickly on a phone
