Hostinger is one of the most popular hosting providers for small business websites in India, thanks to affordable plans and a beginner-friendly control panel called hPanel. Here's how to set up a WordPress site on it properly, not just quickly. (This guide isn't sponsored; plan features change, so always check Hostinger's current plans.)

Step 1: Choose the right product and plan

• WordPress or web hosting, not the Website Builder, if you want a WordPress site you can grow and move later
• Entry plans suit a simple brochure site; business sites with more traffic, WooCommerce or several sites benefit from higher plans with more resources, better backups and extra features
• Check renewal prices, not just the introductory price; see hosting renewal price increases

Step 2: Connect your domain

• New domain: some annual plans include a free domain for the first year, so check the renewal cost
• Existing domain elsewhere: either point its nameservers to Hostinger, or keep DNS where it is and update the A record

Step 3: Install WordPress in hPanel

• Use hPanel's WordPress installer or onboarding wizard
• Choose a unique admin username (not "admin") and a strong password
• Pick the server location closest to your visitors, if your plan offers a choice

Step 4: Turn on SSL

Hostinger provides free SSL certificates. Make sure it's active and that your site loads on https:// with no warnings; see fixing SSL errors.

Step 5: Set up caching

Hostinger runs LiteSpeed servers, so the LiteSpeed Cache plugin works with the server's built-in cache. Configure it carefully and test forms and checkout afterwards; see caching explained.

Step 6: Set up business email

Step 7: Backups and security

• Check how often your plan backs up automatically, and keep your own off-site backups too
• Keep PHP on a current supported version
