You ask three developers for a quote and get three wildly different numbers. It's confusing, but there's usually a reason: they're often quoting for very different things. Here's how to compare quotes properly and choose with confidence.

Look beyond the price
- Portfolio: live websites you can test on your phone
- Reviews and references from real clients
- Communication: did they ask good questions about your business?
- Clarity: is the quote specific, or vague?
Warning signs
- Very low prices with vague scope, where extras appear later
- No mention of ownership, or domain and hosting in their name
- Guaranteed Google rankings; see SEO red flags
