Websites for Watch Stores and Authorised Watch Retailers
What watch shops need online: brand pages within guidelines, accurate dealer status, warranty and repair details, honest pre-owned grading and enquiries.

On this page
- Build brand pages within your dealer agreement and claim authorised status only for brands and branches it actually covers.
- Explain warranty terms, registration and repair services such as battery replacement clearly, with a repair request form.
- Grade pre-owned watches with a published scale and real photos, and keep high-value pieces enquiry-led with fast, personal replies.
Buying a watch, especially an expensive one, is built on trust. Customers want to know the watch is genuine, that the warranty will be honoured and that someone will service it later. A watch shop's website has to show the collection well, state its dealer status accurately and make it easy to enquire, visit the store or book a repair. Many of the same principles apply as in websites for jewellers, with a few watch-specific details.
What watch buyers check first
- Are you an authorised retailer for this brand, and at which branch?
- Is the watch in stock, and can I see it in person?
- What warranty comes with it, and who honours it?
- Can you change batteries, adjust bracelets and service watches later?
- For pre-owned pieces: what condition is it in, and how do you know it's genuine?
Brand pages within brand guidelines
Brand pages help people searching for a specific brand in your city find you, but authorised retailers usually have to follow the brand's rules on how it is presented. Before building them, check your dealer agreement and any brand guidelines for:
- Use of logos, official product images and campaign material, often supplied through a brand's retailer portal
- Whether prices may be shown online, and whether online sales or only enquiries are permitted
- Approved wording for describing the brand and its technology
- Rules on discounts, offers and paid advertising using the brand name
Within those rules, a good brand page has a short introduction in your own words, the collections you actually stock, which branches carry them and a clear way to enquire. Avoid copying the brand's own website text word for word.
Authorised dealer status, stated accurately
"Authorised dealer" is one of the strongest trust signals a watch shop has, so it must be exactly right:
- Claim authorised status only for brands where you hold a current agreement, and only for the branches it covers
- Keep "authorised retailer" and "authorised service centre" separate; they are not the same thing
- Remove a brand's name and logo promptly if an agreement ends
- If you also sell brands you are not authorised for, such as pre-owned pieces, say clearly that you are an independent seller for those, and explain what that means for the warranty
Warranty and service information
Warranty questions often come up before the sale, so answer them on the site:
- Manufacturer warranty terms by brand, as stated by the brand, with a link to its official terms where available
- How warranty registration works: a stamped card, digital activation or both
- What is usually covered and what isn't, such as straps, glass, batteries or accidental damage, following each brand's terms
- Where warranty claims are handled, and whether you accept watches bought elsewhere
- Any extended warranty or service plan of your own, only if you actually offer one, with its terms written out
Repairs, battery replacement and servicing
Repairs bring steady footfall and often lead to the next sale. Give them their own section rather than a line on the contact page:
- Services listed clearly: battery replacement, strap and bracelet sizing, glass replacement, water-resistance testing if you have the equipment, and servicing of automatic and mechanical watches
- Which brands and movement types you can and can't work on
- How estimates work and typical turnaround times, explained honestly
- A repair request form with photo upload, and repair status updates on WhatsApp
- Whether you use genuine parts, stated only where true
Repair pages also match urgent local searches like "watch battery replacement near me" and "watch repair in {area}".
Pre-owned watches with honest condition grading
Pre-owned and vintage watches can be a valuable line, but only if buyers trust your descriptions. Publish your grading scale, for example unworn, excellent, very good and good, with a plain definition of each, and then for every watch show:
- Real photos of that exact watch from several angles, including any scratches or wear
- Reference or model number, case size, movement type and, where known, the year
- Whether it comes with the original box and papers
- Service history and whether the case has been polished, where known
- The checks you carry out before listing, and any warranty you provide
Never describe a pre-owned watch as new, and keep records of where you sourced each piece.
Enquiry-led sales for high-value pieces
For expensive watches, most buyers want a conversation before paying. Design the site around that:
- "Enquire about this watch" buttons that pre-fill the model and reference in a form or WhatsApp message
- Booking for store visits or private viewings, plus video calls for buyers in other cities
- Price shown, or "price on request", depending on your brand agreements; see should you show prices on your website
- Fast replies from a named person, since high-value buyers often enquire at several stores
- Insured, tracked delivery explained clearly for watches sold online
Everyday watches can still sell directly through an online store, with high-value pieces kept enquiry-only. See online appointment booking for setting up store visit slots.
