10 Signs Your Business Needs a New Website

Your website works for you 24 hours a day, or against you. An outdated site quietly sends potential customers to competitors, and you may never know. Here are 10 signs it's time for a new website or a redesign.

1. It doesn't work well on phones

Most visitors browse on mobile. If text is tiny, buttons are hard to tap or people have to pinch and zoom, they leave. Open your site on your phone right now and be honest.

2. It's slow

If pages take more than a few seconds to load, many visitors give up before they see anything. Test your site on Google PageSpeed Insights. Poor scores also affect your rankings.

3. It looks outdated

Design trends change. An old-fashioned website makes a modern, capable business look small or inactive, and visitors judge credibility within seconds.

4. You get visitors but no enquiries

If analytics shows traffic but the phone doesn't ring, the site isn't convincing people or isn't making it easy to contact you. Clear calls to action, WhatsApp and trust signals often fix this.

5. You can't update it yourself

If changing a phone number or adding a photo means waiting for a developer, you'll stop updating it, and an out-of-date site erodes trust.

6. It doesn't show up on Google

Search for your main service and city. If you don't appear, and competitors do, your site may lack proper structure, content or technical SEO.

7. It says "Not secure"

A missing SSL certificate triggers browser warnings that scare visitors away, and forms on insecure sites put customer data at risk.

8. Your business has changed

New services, new locations, a new brand or new target customers? If your website still describes the business you were five years ago, it's selling the wrong thing.

9. It's been hacked, or keeps breaking

Repeated malware, broken plugins and crashes are signs of an unmaintained, outdated setup. Rebuilding on a clean, current foundation is often cheaper than repeated fixes.

10. Competitors' websites are clearly better

Customers compare. If competitors have faster, clearer, more professional websites, they'll win enquiries even if your service is better.

Redesign or start fresh?

  • Redesign if your content and structure are mostly fine but the look, speed or mobile experience needs work.
  • Rebuild if the site is on an outdated platform, can't be edited, is repeatedly hacked, or no longer reflects your business.

Either way, plan redirects and keep your best-performing pages so you don't lose existing Google rankings.

Next step

If three or more of these signs sound familiar, your website is probably costing you business. A focused redesign with a modern look, fast mobile pages and clear calls to action can turn it back into your best salesperson.
